BOOK REVIEW: Logan's Reaper (Soul Reapers #1) by J.D. Lowrance

Logan's Reaper by J.D. Lowrance
Series: Soul Reapers #1
Genres: Contemporary Romance, New Adult
Publication Date: Nov 11, 2013
My Rating:  ♥♥♥♥
Logan

I hear the rumble of the pipes before I even saw the motorcycles. I closed my eyes and savored the sound. I loved it and always found myself pausing when I heard one. I fell in love with the sound when daddy brought his bike home that first time. Other kids covered their ears and ran to stand behind their momma's, but not me. I raced towards the sound with my arms and eyes wide open never wanting it to stop.

Logan Jones is hiding in a small town with her sister Campbell. Their gorgeous neighbor of the duplex they just rented is no other than the Soul Reapers' VP Colton Murphy. Her life was too complicated to add another layer of hot-ass biker to the mix.

Colton

She kept sneaking peeks at me from under her long lashes to see if my attention has moved on but after having seen her I did not think it would ever move on again.

Colton Murphy has a good life with plenty of everything coming his way - woman, money, booze. He has plenty of time to settle down in a few years. That is until he returns from a run to find the long-legged, auburn beauty, Logan Jones, that has moved in next door.

***Author's note: This novel contains scenes of a sexual nature, violent themes, and coarse language. It is intended for mature readers.

My Thoughts

3.5ish stars!

What the hell with the cover?! As a religious mc-biker reader, to have this as a cover on a mc book is a sin! My vagina is screaming for something hot.. preferably a naked sexy guy with tattoos that you just want to lick it all over... *cough!*

Sorry... On to my mini review..

“Have you been waiting long?” I asked.
“My whole life,” he responded.

Logan's Reaper is a CUTE steamy story! Yes. I said cute.
I know that word is a blaspheme in MC biker world but this is not your typical gritty, angst, crazy MC book. It's a light short read but well written story that didn't feel awkward or forced like some wannabe MC book out there.
“I did not know peace until you fell asleep in my arms.”

Colt is basically your cliche MC hero- Alpha, possessive and protective. He got a semi boner the moment he saw Logan. lol! The little sweet things he said to Logan was effin' adorable! Logan is your another cliche heroine.. Hot and beautiful but she doesn't know it! heh! These two had an instant connection then insta-love.. which kinda sucks but as I said earlier- everything didn't feel forced.

Colt + Logan + Sex = bomb diggity! I just loved their chemistry!♥

I guess the only issue I have was the paced of the story. It was too darn short! Everything was moving too fast. I wanted more character development... more steamy scenes.. and more TANK!!

Anyway, even though it was bloody fast-paced, I really enjoyed this book!

Before I read this, I knew the ending has a cliffy.. but DARN.IT!!! I didn't expected that kind of ending.. I need book 2 now! Omg poor Campbell...

My Thoughts

"Baby, I will be anchored to you forever and always."

Wow this was a roller coaster ride! I was hooked from the first page! I'm a sucker for childhood romance or second chance love story so I was really looking forward to this book!

I loved the premise of the book but Elleny pissed the shit out of me! I have mixed feelings towards the heroine.. I don't know if I want to hug Elleny or help Bear beat the sh*t out of her! She started off as a strong heroine- sassy and confident but throughout the story she became weak and stupiiiiid! I really wanted to like Elleny, I loved reading helpless-abused heroine but her decisions, unnecessary dramas and the way she handled everything was too much for me. She was stupid, weak and selfish (and yes, I put SELFISH!) I had to put my kindle down and calm myself coz seriously, she gave me a headache! The abused was well written, it triggered so many emotions on me but it also made me hate her. I wanted to strangle her for being once again, stupid for putting up with that shit for years!!

Some might think that she's an amazing mother for sacrificing and protecting... yadayada! I know she has some reasons WHY, WHEN, WHERE, WHO, HOW ...

but to exposed your children from all these? Soooo not worth it woman!

"Babe, you're not broken your just damaged. Remember… bendable…not breakable"
I guess the only good thing about this book was TJ! He knew since second grade that Elleny was the one. He's awesome and once again, I felt like straggling Elleny for this! I just really wished we could get in his head too. I wanted to know why it took him YEARS to come back! What happened to him in those years? There was a small glimpse that he had a gf (seems serious) but he ended it all of a sudden.. WHY? There were so many unanswered questions. :(

Bear on the other hand is.. er.. BEAR. I actually liked him from the beginning and it kinda broke my heart that he became like a monster. I know he's the villain in this book but I couldn't help but feel something for this man.

Other than the heroine, I also didn't like the flashbacks and sex scenes.. It was good to see their past but the flashbacks were too many and slow. I wanted to just move forward and focus on the present.

Now the sex scenes...

Don't get me wrong, I felt their love from one another but the sex scenes felt so forced and scripted. I love me some passionate humping but all the yelling "TJ!! Ahhhhhh!" was awkward and just didn't feel right.

Sorry for my mini rant... I just finished the book and I have so many emotions running through me right now but despite everything, I honestly enjoyed this book! lol. I know right? Doesn't make sense with all my bitching up there. But Elleny and TJ's love story was painful yet beautiful. I loved reading something that would make me feel.. and god I felt everything!! Yes, I didn't like the heroine but I wanted to see her HEA. After all the crap they have been through, TJ and Elleny deserved it! I was totally emotionally drained but in a good contentment way. The epilogue killed me.. it was so perfect!

I highly recommend this to anyone who's looking for some gripping love story. Just grab some tissue and prepare yourself emotionally and mentally... Lol!

BOOK REVIEW: Take a Chance (Chance #1) by Abbi Glines

Take a Chance (Chance #1) by Abbi Glines
Series: Chance #1
Genres: Contemporary Romance, New Adult, Erotic
Publication Date: Feb 25, 2014
My Rating: ♥♥♥♥
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Abbi Glines comes the story of Grant, the sexy playboy who first captured readers hearts in Fallen Too Far.

When Harlow Manning's rocker father goes on tour, he sends her to Rosemary Beach, Florida, to live with her half-sister, Nan. The problem: Nan despises her. Harlow has to keep her head down if she wants to get through the next nine months, which seems easy enough. Until gorgeous Grant Carter walks out of Nan's room in nothing but his boxer briefs.

Grant made a huge mistake getting involved with a girl with venom in her veins. He'd known about Nan's reputation, but still he couldn't resist her. Nothing makes him regret the fling more than meeting Harlow, who sends his pulse racing. Yet Harlow wants nothing to do with a guy who could fall for her wicked half-sister, even if there are no strings between Grant and Nan. Grant is desperate to redeem himself in Harlow's eyes, but did he ruin his chances before he even met her?

My Thoughts

4 STARS!

I'm all into cheating heroes and doormat heroine.. heck! I crave for this kind of theme but Take a Chance didn't hit me the right spot. I'm a big fan of this author and the Rosemary Beach Series is one of my favorite. I'm in love with Rush, Blaire, Woods and Della! So that being said- I've been waiting for Grant's book like FOREVER!! I set up a high expectation on this book but sadly it came out meh!

As I mentioned earlier, I liked doormat heroines so that being said- Harlow is my kind of girl. She's weak, helpless but loveable at the same time.

Now I'm not going to re-tell the whole story but if you read the other books, you all know about NAN. ugh. NAN. I knew she was going to be a big pain in the ass! At one point, I was thinking why is this author keep bringing Nan in every.damn.book in the series. She's like a walking disease with no cure! hahaha! But if I would be honest, I was also kinda anticipating the bitch! lol! I guess she makes the story.. er.. more interesting.

I guess my major problem here was Grant's character. Can I just please rant about him?! I have so many emotions all bottled up inside right now that I'm ready to blow up! Grant ruined this book for me and yes- he's the Hero but my god.. throughout the story, I just want to punch him in the face!! I kept thinking is this the Grant I know from the previous books? He was just.. so fuckin' weak and the constant whining started to get old that I started to dislike him. I had no problem with him hooking up with Nan.. cheating? I kinda expected it but what blew me away was him being such a pussy. How very disappointing.

I don't know.. I just want the characters to be balanced. If the heroine is weak then give me a strong hero.

Grant and Harlow together? I wasn't sold. In my distaste for his mistakes ways, I simply didn't believe his "love" for Harlow. He kept making mistake after mistake it was exhausting to the point that I started hating him.

Sigh...

Don't get me wrong, the writing is flawless with so many twist as expected from the author. After reading this book, I was emotionally and physically drained. lol!

Overall it's a 4 stars for me. Just Grant.. put your alpha panties on and grow some balls man!!!

BOOK REVIEW: Finding Cinderella (Hopeless #2.5) by Colleen Hoover

Finding Cinderella by Colleen Hoover
Series: Hopeless #2.5
Genres: New Adult, Contemporary Romance
Publication Date: Oct 14, 2013
My Rating: ♥♥♥♥
This novella is a companion novel to the Hopeless series, but can be read as a standalone.

A chance encounter in the dark leads eighteen-year-old Daniel and the girl who stumbles across him to profess their love for each other. But this love comes with conditions: they agree it will only last one hour and it will only be make-believe.

When their hour is up and the girl rushes off like Cinderella, Daniel tries to convince himself that what happened between them only seemed perfect because they were pretending it was perfect. Moments like that with girls like her don’t happen outside of fairytales.

One year and one bad relationship later, his disbelief in insta-love is stripped away the day he meets Six: a girl with a strange name and an even stranger personality. Daniel soon realizes the way he pretended to feel about Cinderella and the way he really feels about Six may not be so different after all. Especially when the two loves of his life end up being one in the same.

Unfortunately for Daniel, finding Cinderella doesn’t guarantee their happily ever after…it only further threatens it.

My Thoughts

Maybe she can be like Cinderella and I’ll be her Prince Charming.
Yeah, I like that fantasy better.

To be honest.. I haven't read any books from this author. Please. Don't kill me. I know I'm missing out big time here. lol. But I saw this on amazon as freebie, I recognized the author  (I mean.. Who doesn't?) and the title is catchy so as a ebook hoarder, I couldn't pass this off.

She dips her spoon into her ice cream, then puts the spoon back in her mouth.
I can’t stop staring at that spoon. I think I love that spoon.

I thought this was like your good old cliche Cinderella love story but I was wrong. I was a little confused when I started reading this. Since *cough!* I haven't read the series, I didn't know that Daniel is the best friend of Holder (Hero from the first book). Though I heard so much rave about Holder being one of the best book boyfriend.. But other than that? I have really no idea who's Holder or Sky. Yes. I know. Once again, I'm missing out big time!

“Shit, Holder,” I groan, running my palms down my face.
“Why the hell did you have to go and do that? You just made her off-limits, man.”

I wasn't totally lost with the story as this book is all about Daniel and Six. But I'll be honest, I wasn't emotionally invested. It would have been great if it was longer to see and feel more characters development. But hey, maybe that's just me since I haven't read the whole series yet.

“We all have deal-breakers, Daniel. Some of us just hope we can keep them hidden forever.”
I have a sort of love/hate relationship with novellas but Finding Cinderella is flawless despite being a short story. Even though I was a little confuse, I devoured this book in one sitting.

Overall this was a fun, sexy witty read! I love Daniel. Now I'm going to the author's page and put Hoover and Losing Hope in my TBR list. :)

BOOK REVIEW: Knox's Stand (The Last Riders #3) by Jamie Begley

Knox's Stand by Jamie Begley
Series: The Last Riders #3
Genres: Contemporary Romance, Erotic
Publication Date:  Nov 5, 2013
My Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥
Knox, a former Navy Seal, has been in several dangerous situations, but nothing compares to dealing with Diamond Richards. Framed for murder, he needs the passionless lawyer to prove his innocence. But when he no longer needs her help, he’s going to show her the passion she’s capable of and walk away a free man.

Diamond plans on earning her huge fee to prove Knox is innocent, but she had no idea the muscled biker could bring out the passion she kept hidden behind her designer clothes.

Trying to find a murderer is easier than dealing with The Last Riders and Knox’s sexcapades. He’s going to find out there is one woman worth standing and fighting for, despite his desire for freedom.

My Thoughts

5 HUGE PIERCED STARS!

I'm obsessed with The Last Riders series! I was a little bummed out when the author announced that the next one will be Knox. I was kinda hoping for Shades but hey! I'm not really complaining because ever since book 2, I've been so curious about Knox and his piercings!

The book started of with a BANG! and I mean it literally with Knox banging the shit out of the women!

“You’re a marshmallow.”
“I am not a fucking marshmallow!”

Knox... sexy, rough, dominant and huge- not just by height but also down *cough!* there. He's the biggest member of The Last Riders MC with completely bald head. Framed for murder, he needs Diamond to prove his innocence...

“You got something against color?”
“I like a calm environment.”
“Any more calm and you’d be dead.”

Where do I even begin with this guy? I adored him. I loved that his dominant but also softy. I knew he has some piercings down there but I didn't expected him to be HUGE and likes a rough sex. Let me tell you, He's a fuckin' sex machine! I thought Viper is the one that has a big sexual appetite but I was damn wrong. Knox can fuck for hours. He has some skill that no one else has.. he sure knows how to use those piercings.

Diamond.. the stuck-up bitch with curvy figure, red hair and big breasts. She's  a struggling lawyer who grew up in the MC club. She hated her father who was the President of The Destructors and didn't agree with their lifestyle. Wanting a fresh start, she decided to move to Treepoint. Representing as Knox lawyer, she needs to prove he's innocent.

“This is what I want from you, Diamond.”
“It’s yours, Knox. Take me.”

I don't really know how I feel about Diamond. I liked her from the start but at times grate on my nerves. I'm quite disappointed with her coz she started off as a strong independent woman but became weak throughout the story! I didn't like how she begged and didn't asked for commitment, love or even infidelity to Knox. She hated her father for cheating on her mother and now she was doing the same fuckin' thing. From being strong, she ended up with no backbone at all.

“Kiss me. Forget there’s anyone in the room”

Ahh.. the sharing and watching. Seriously, these people fuck non stop!! I loved all the members (even the girls!) but I'm still not warming up on the club rules and friday party. It irked me but Jamie Begley does it with so much sensuality that even though I don't like sharing, it had me panting! The scene with Knox, Diamond and Rider was H.O.T!!!! but thank god, it was only one time. I'm a weird reader so... I also liked the part with Knox banging Samantha and Knox with Jewell! I enjoy reading the hero having sex with other women (in details).. yes. I know. Don't judge.

I have one question though.. there's 7 members... Razer, Viper and Knox are now taken.. so only Shades, Rider, Cash and Train are available.. What will happen to Evie, Jewell, Bliss and the rest of the girls when all the guys are taken?

Overall... once again a great addition to the series! The pacing is pretty good, no dull moments. There were some shocking revelations and Knox decisions that you wouldn't expect! After reading this, I am totally in loved with Knox!

Jamie Begley has outdone herself, this author did not disappoint me! It's your typical MC biker world with a lot of twist, turn and humping that will leave you breathless! I loved that we not only get to see the rest of the gang but also new characters and possibility a new series!

Now I can't wait for Shades and Lily! Omg! It's really happening! I'm just hoping and crossing my fingers that Lily won't end up being promiscuous! I know how Shades get so possessive and protective, so hopefully he doesn't let ANYONE touch her. :(

About the Author

I was born in a small town in Kentucky. My family began poor, but worked their way to owning a restaurant. My mother was one of the best cooks I have ever known, and she instilled in all her children the value of hard work, and education.

Taking after my mother, I’ve always love to cook, and became pretty good if I do say so myself. I love to experiment and my unfortunate family has suffered through many. They now have learned to steer clear of those dishes. I absolutely love the holidays and my family put up with my zany decorations.

For now, my days are spent at work and I write during the nights and weekends. I have two children who both graduate next year from college. My daughter does my book covers, and my son just tries not to blush when someone asks him about my books.

Currently I am writing three series of books- The Last Riders that is fairly popular, The Dark Souls series, which is not, and The VIP Room, which we will soon see. My favorite book I have written is Soul Of A Woman, which I am hoping to release during the summer of 2014. It took me two years to write, during which I lost my mother, and brother. It’s a book that I truly feel captures the true depths of love a woman can hold for a man. In case you haven’t figured it out yet, I am an emotional writer who wants the readers to feel the emotion of the characters they are reading. Because of this, Teased is probably the hardest thing I have written.

All my books are written for one purpose- the enjoyment others find in them, and the expectations of my fans that inspire me to give it my best. In the near future I hope to take a weekend break and visit Vegas that will hopefully be next summer. Right now I am typing away on Knox’s story and looking forward to the coming holidays. Did I mention I love the holidays?

BOOK REVIEW: Knights' Sinner (The MC Sinners #3) by Bella Jewel

Knights' Sinner by Bella Jewel
Series: The MC Sinners #3
Genres: Contemporary Romance
Publication Date: Oct 23, 2013
My Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥
Jackson is always considered the 'softie'. He's the first to help people out when they're in need. He's President of the Hell's Knights and he figures it's about time he shows the world how much of a sinner he can be.

Serenity has a dark past. Secrets haunt her and she has no way of escaping them. Hogan is the only family she knows and life with him is brutal. And it's about to get worse.

He sends her on a mission.

On a mission to destroy the Hell's Knights and the Heaven's Sinners.

Can she pretend with a club she doesn't know?

Or will she betray Hogan for the man she's falling in love with?

My Thoughts

I was surprised and quite hesitant when I found out Jackson is getting his own book. He was probably my least favorite guy in the series... I mean come on.. Yeah he's the President of the club but the guy is old and a pig! Ever since book one, I always saw him as an old man with a stinkin' beer belly. lol! But damn.. damn.. damn.. and damn.. after reading this book, gotta say that Jackson is one old hot piece of meat!!

He might be an old man and considered the "softie" but the man can f*ck you all night long baby! And I was shocked to find out the tribal marking around his...

Never heard of it and had to google some pics so I can visualize what does it look like.. and damn.. damn.. damn.. I like what I see!

“Sometimes love just ain’t meant to be for some people.”
“I don’t think that’s true,” I say softly. “I think everyone has someone.”

We met Serenity in book two, she stumbles onto Jackson's compound and has been beaten up badly by her abusive father, who is the President of a rival club. On the outside, Serenity has the whole package- she's sweet, innocent and tiny with a pretty little face. Everybody in the club likes her but she's hiding a big secret, Serenity has been sent to spy on them...

Again, out of the three books- Serenity is my favorite heroine. First, she's weak but not too weak. Secondly, I liked that even though she's a broken woman, she still has some fire inside her. I've never been abused but I felt connected to her character.

“Thank you,” he rasps.
“M-m-me?” I whisper, shaking my head. “What for?

“For ending my nightmare.”

Serenity and Jackson's story is my favorite, it's more gripping and I felt every emotion throughout this book. The scene when everyone found out about her secret? Ah.. that was emotional and I'm not gonna lie, I had tears in my eyes. It was heartbreaking to see how Jackson treated Serenity afterwards. I knew he'll be mad or something but didn't expected him to go berserk. Jackson is not a violent person but geez.. he sure is scary when he gets really mad.

Can't really say anything negative about this book, I had high expectation and I got it!

I guess one thing that irked me was the threesome with Muff. I don't like sharing. Period. I was a little turned off that Jackson let someone fucked Serenity. I knew that he liked sharing his women but I was hoping it will be different when it comes to her. But I have to admit that the threesome scene was nicely done, so if you guys like MFM, then this book has it that will give you a bookgasm. hehe.

Knights' Sinner is the best book out of the MC Sinners series!

These guys, they are our family.
To some, they might be crazy and dangerous.
To us, they are the reason we breathe.

Bella Jewel definitely saved the best for last! This was a great book to end the series.

I'm looking forward to reading Muff's book.. I'm kinda bummed out that it's just a novella.. but beggars can't be choosers. I'll gladly take Muff.. anytime.. anywhere.

BOOK REVIEW: The Dark Light of Day by T.M. Frazier

The Dark Light of Day by T.M. Frazier
Genres: Contemporary Romance, Dark
Publication Date: Sept 15, 2013
My Rating: ♥♥♥♥
Warning: This is not your typical romance. The story of Abby & Jake contains disturbing situations, graphic violence, sex, rape, strong language, drug use, and all types of abuse.

Abby has been through hell and has survived one of the most brutal childhoods imaginable…barely.

To the outside world she's just a loner with an attitude.

When her grandmother dies in a tragic explosion, Abby is left with questions-and nothing else.

Homeless, sleeping in a junkyard, and on the run from a system that has failed her over and over again, she meets Jake, a tattooed blue-eyed biker with secrets that will rival her own.

Two broken souls that can't be healed. They can't be saved.

Abby & Jake must reveal to one another their most guarded secrets and discover if they can embrace the darkness those secrets hold-and the darkness within themselves.

If they can accept one another for who they really are, they might be able to learn that love isn’t always found in the light.

*stand alone novel, HEA in a twisted kind of way, no cliffhangers, no sequel

My Thoughts

"Dark-Romance" isn't my kind of book, but Āwhina **(Ah-Fee-Nah) recommended it and I saw Kitty Kats Crazy About Books gave it a big 5 stars, so even though this book is not in my genre alley- I had to read it!

The Dark Light of Day is beautiful, gripping and intense. It revolves around Abby and Jake who has been through a lot. They are different but somewhat bonded in a special way.

I expected nothing, until the night I met a certain redhead with an attitude.

Abby is damaged inside and out. She grew up in an abusive family. She's been tossed around the foster care until she moves in with her Nan (grandma). Life seems to be going somewhere, only to get ripped once again. On the day of her graduation, her Nan dies which leaves Abby alone and homeless. She ends up sleeping in a junkyard and meets Jake...

“If you ever disappear on me, I would track you to the ends of the Earth and back. I will always find you, Bee. Always.”

Jake has his own personal demons to deal with. His drunkard father constantly blamed him for Mason (his brother) and Mother's death. One night, something inside him snapped and leaves home on his bike. Years later, he gets a call that the house he grew up in- the house his mother had loved- was in danger of being lost to the tax collector. Now he's heading to the very place he hated the most..

I'm not going to retell the whole story without giving too much. But let me tell you, I was hooked from the first page! I loved how strong Abby was. She's been through a lot.. and I mean A LOT!! but despite of everything she stood up for herself and remained positive and strong. What happened to her touched me in so many ways, now I never been abused what-so-ever but the way the author wrote some scenes was gut wrenching and made me feel like I was Abby. The things she suffered were sickening. It was a little graphic for my taste but I couldn't look away!

“You’re not nothing. Don’t ever fucking say that again, because you’re everything.”

Jake oh.. my yummy mysterious Jake! I wanna pet his goatee! ^_^
We get his small POV in prologue and epilogue but I was a little frustrated that I couldn't get inside his head the whole time. I adored Jake but the part when he didn't believe Abby was heartbreaking!! I cried and felt so betrayed.

Sick, twisted Abby was in love with the sick, twisted, beautiful Jake.

The only reason I'm not giving this a full 5 stars is because the pacing was a bit too fast in some situations. Specially the second part when Jake came back to Abby.. it would have been nice to see a little grovelling on Jake's part but it seems like their HEA just breezed through that it felt quite unbelievable.

“I promise I will always come back to you. Always.”

Overall this was a great read! T.M. Frazier has done a terrific job in this beautiful story. I guess what I learned from this book is that when you are going through hell, keep on going. Never ever give up...

I highly recommend this to anyone! Great book to debut! The Dark Light of Day will remain in me for quite some time.

About the Author
T.M. (Tracey Marie) Frazier resides in sunny Southwest Florida with her husband and three feisty fur kids.

She attended Florida Gulf Coast University where she specialized in public speaking.

After years working in real estate and new home construction, she decided it was finally time to stop pushing her dreams to the back burner and pursue writing seriously.

In the third grade she wrote her very first story about a lost hamster. It earned rave reviews from both her teacher and her parents.

It only took her twenty years to start the next one.

The Dark Light of Day is her debut novel.

Determined not to wait another twenty years, T.M. is hard at work on her second book.

It will not be about hamsters.

I love chatting with my readers and talking books! : )
