My Thoughts
I've been reading a lot of contemporary romance/young adult genres for the past few weeks and I was getting bored by it. I felt the need to read either paranormal or fantasy but I didn't want to just pick something that it not worth reading. I saw this on Edelweiss and the cover book caught my attention. hehe!
I read the description and it looks interesting but I never heard of Lindsey Piper.. but since I'm craving for something new I requested this.
I didn't know what to expect in this book, first glanced reminds me of the movie Gladiator. hehe, but Caged Warrior is not your typical paranormal/fantasy romance book. First impression? Not your typical paranormal love story. It's too dark, ugly, raw, fighting and violence for my taste.. it was shocking and to be honest I didn't want to continue it but for some odd reason I feel like I was inside the book and couldn't look away!
The storyline is pretty, though I did find some parts a little confusing and a bit slow paced for my taste.
Character wise, they were all okay... I like our heroine Audrey- she's strong, and feel somewhat connected to her. When I think of her, I feel like singing "I'm a survivor by Destiny's Child" hehe! She's been through so much and it's hard not to feel sorry for this woman. Now the Hero Leto is quite unlikeable, he was cruel and it took me awhile to warm up on him. Gotta say, I still don't like him.. :/
Caged Warrior is not just a dark fantasy.. it was also an emotional roller coaster that at some point I felt exhausted to continue to read it. This is my first read from this author and I think she did an amazing job on this one! It's pretty original in my opinion and definitely great start for a new series!
Will wait for the next book of Dragon Kings!
