BOOK REVIEW: Down London Road (On Dublin Street #2) by Samantha Young

Down London Road by Samantha Young
Series: On Dublin Street #2
Genres: Contemporary Romance, Adult
Publication Date: May 7, 2013
My Rating: ♥♥♥♥
Johanna Walker is used to taking charge. But she’s about to meet someone who will make her lose control....

It has always been up to Johanna to care for her family, particularly her younger brother, Cole. With an absent father and a useless mother, she’s been making decisions based on what’s best for Cole for as long as she can remember. She even determines what men to date by how much they can provide for her brother and her, not on whatever sparks may—or may not—fly.

But with Cameron MacCabe, the attraction is undeniable. The sexy new bartender at work gives her butterflies every time she looks at him. And for once, Jo is tempted to put her needs first. Cam is just as obsessed with getting to know Jo, but her walls are too solid to let him get close enough to even try.

Then Cam moves into the flat below Jo’s, and their blistering connection becomes impossible to ignore. Especially since Cam is determined to uncover all of Jo’s secrets …even if it means taking apart her defenses piece by piece.

My Thoughts

Okaaaaay... I'm a huge fan of Samantha Young and I have been anticipating this release! I had high hopes for this book, but unfortunately something was lacking that I couldn't explain what.

Johanna gorgeous, tall legs that went on forever. Everyone thinks she was just a shallow gold-digger girl but behind this exterior Jo is insecure and selfless. She had a rough life... her father was abusive, so they took off and is in hiding from him. Now She's taking care of her brother and dealing with a useless drunken mother. Money doesn't come easy, so she is juggling two jobs to keep her family afloat. Honestly, I didn't like her in On Dublin Street , the author explained well in this book her situations and why she did this and that.. but my opinion on her from the first book didn't change anything. I still see her as a gold digger and had a hard time warming up on her.

Cam is lean sinewy good looking, sexy tattooed artist. He was a jerk at first, but eventually became sweet and understanding to Jo. What really pissed me off was the situation with his ex gf, letting her stay the night on his apartment.. ugh. I just want to kill him! He said nothing happened.. but really? stay the night and let her use your shirt?! sigh. How I wish this was a dual POV, there were times that I was frustrated because I couldn't read what's going on in his mind. lol.  I was quite disappointed that he's not alpha male possessive guy (like Braden). I like him but I just didn't love him as much.

What I love is that both of them was in a relationship when they met. The sexual tension was there and I like that their friendship blossomed into love. Down London Road is a well written story, has some angst and cried on certain pages but I just wish that the story was more engaging and gripping! The first half of the book kinda dragged on and It took me forever to finish this book. Quite frankly it bored me and the main characters did nothing for me. Something is missing and I'm not sure what went wrong. :/

Also the amount of Jocelyn and Braden in this book was unnecessary.. I adore them but they were just everywhere in this book that at one point they somewhat stole the "spotlight"

Over all, it's an okay book.. not great as On Dublin Street or Until Fountain Bridge.. but it's still a good read and I'm looking forward to the next installment in this series.
