ARC BOOK REVIEW: White Trash Beautiful (White Trash Trilogy #1) by Teresa Mummert

White Trash Beautiful by Teresa Mummert
Series: White Trash Trilogy #1
Genres: Contemporary Romance, Adult, Drama
Publication Date: July 9, 2013
My Rating: ♥♥♥♥
A word-of-mouth bestseller that’s captivating readers with its honesty, grit, and headstrong heroine, White Trash Beautiful is a story for anyone who has ever felt trapped in life, cheated by love—and longed for something more . . .

Cass Daniels isn’t waiting for her knight in shining armor. She knows that girls like her don’t get a happily ever after. Not if you live in a trailer with your mom, work at a greasy spoon diner, and get leered at by old men. Maybe that’s why she puts up with Jackson—her poor excuse for a boyfriend, who treats her like dirt. Cass has learned to accept her lot in life. That is, until he walks into her diner. . . .

His name is Tucker White, and he’s different from any man Cass has ever known. Tall, tattooed, and bad-ass gorgeous, he’s the lead singer of the rock band Damaged. From the moment they meet, Tucker sees something in Cass he just can’t shake. Something beautiful. Something haunted. Something special. And he’s determined to find out what it is—if only he can get her to open up and let him in...

My Thoughts

“You deserve better, Cass.”

Cass is a high school drop out, working a dead end job as a waitress that barely pays the bill. She lives in a trailer park with a drug addict mother and an abusive boyfriend. She's living a life that was going no where.... She's not naive; Cass doesn't believe in happily ever after and that there's no knight in shining armor who will take her away.. but everything changes when Tucker White walks into the diner...

I already read this book last year but when Teresa Mummert announced that she will release an extended version, I just couldn't let it pass. I'm a big fan of this author so when I saw this on NetGalley I requested it right away!

White Trash Beautiful is a beautiful, dark, emotional, frustrating, romantic-angst story. This book brought so many emotions on me and to be honest this WORE.ME.OUT! It actually gave me a headache. lol

I have mixed feelings with this book.

I didn't like Cass... I couldn't relate to her character. She seemed like a doormat but then sometimes she's not... she puts up with her boyfriend's crap but then there will be times that she acts like a bitch and snipey.  Am I making sense here? lol.. what I'm trying to say, her character was not solid and kinda confused me at times. It frustrate me that she couldn't make up her mind... she went back and forth with her feelings for Tucker and Jax and I couldn't understand why! I wanted her to get the HEA but there were times that I just want to strangle her! lol

Tucker is a great character and you couldn't help but love him. He's a sexy rock star, he's like the boy that your daddy warned you about... but behind that tatted bad boy exterior is a sweet, supportive, loving hero. What I didn't like is that Tucker's character wasn't fully developed, he was sweet and everything but he remained a mystery for me. The way he had an instant love with Cass was a little unbelievable.

It's a well written story but Cass and Tucker's relationship wasn't fully developed in this book, from the beginning until the end felt felt so rushed! I'm hoping that in the second book, we get to see more character relationship between them.

Overall this is a great story and I will definitely read the next book titled White Trash Damaged.. from the description of the second book, it sounds like it's going to give me another headache..

Oh gee... I cannot wait...

I received this book from Gallery, Threshold, Pocket Books via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
