BOOK REVIEW: More Than This (More Than This #1) by Jay McLean

More Than This by Jay McLean
Series: More Than This #1
Genres: Contemporary Romance, New Adult
Publication Date: July 10, 2013
My Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥
*Mikayla*
In one night my fairytale ended. Or it may have begun. This is my story of friendship and love, heartbreak and desire, and the strength to show weakness.

*Jake*
One night I met a girl. A sad and broken girl, but one more beautiful than any other. She laughed through her sadness, while I loved through her heartbreak.

*This is our story of a maybe ever after.*

"He was right. It made no difference whether it was 6 months or 6 years.
I couldn’t undo what had been done. I couldn’t change the future. I couldn’t even predict it.
It was one night. One night when everything changed. It was so much more than just the betrayal.
It was the tragedy. The deaths. The Murders. But it was also that feeling. That feeling of falling."

My Thoughts

This is more than a fucking five stars!

More than This blew me away~! I love this book! The writing is flawless with great pace that flows right through me. It's romantic and emotional at the same time!

Mikayla has everything a girl can wish for.. perfect boyfriend, popular best friend and a loving family! But she loses her everything at the night of her prom..

I'm filipino, so it was a small treat to know that Mikayla has a filipino blood! hehe. I've been reading some frustrating heroines lately, so it's refreshing to read a heroine like Mikayla. This girl has been through a lot but she stayed strong and positive with the help of Jake. I wouldn't say that she's the perfect heroine but I loved that she was strong but at the same time weak.

“I’m kind of a big deal, didn’t you know?”

Jake fucking Andrews..

This man is quite different from other perfect heroes I've ever read before. He was perfect but not to the point where you doubt his intentions or character. Jake is a baseball player that could go professional if he wanted to. He's good looking with his sexy Australian accent! *swoons!*
Jake is alpha but in a sweet kinda way.. there is just something about him that make me all gooey inside! He's a perfect book boyfriend that makes you want to devour him... (uhm.. okay that sounds disturbing.. sorry! >_< ) but seriously, Jake is one hot piece of meat that is sweet, patient and supporting...  I already said this earlier- Jake is one perfect hero!!

One thing though, about Marisa? Everyone was saying she's his ex/girlfriend but then he said she's not.. they briefly talked about it but not in details so I'm a bit confused.. :/

Because I need to know. I need to know how she feels and what she wants from me.
From this. If she wants to be more than this.

I normally favor one character over the other but in this book, I love Jake and Mikayla's characters! Their love story is very sweet and romantic, I loved their relationship and how it developed! You feel the connection right away and you get sucked by it and won't be able to put the book down! I liked that the story is dual POV and I sooo thoroughly enjoyed reading Jake's thoughts. I said this before in my previous post- there's just something sexy about reading a guys mind. ^_^

“God Jake, I so much more than a lot like you.”
“Mikayla, I passed that stage a long, long time ago.”

With an amazing main characters, it also has an amazing supporting characters! Wow! At first, I had a hard time keeping up with their names.. lol! they were a lot and it was quite overwhelming but throughout the story you get to know them and love them all!

And double wow! the epilogue was unexpected... such a teaser!!! argh! I WANT LOGAN'S BOOK NOW! T___T

Overall I love this book! (I know, I'm repeating myself) but More Than This is a spectacular love story that will make you feel.. and to be honest, it's been awhile since I felt something like this on a book. I cried, laugh, felt frustrated and aroused! LOL!

I highly recommend this book!!!
