One Week Girlfriend (Drew + Fable #1) by Monica Murphy

One Week Girlfriend (Drew + Fable #1) by Monica Murphy
Genres: New Adult, Contemporary Romance
Purchased: Amazon
My Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥
Temporary. That one single word best describes my life these last few years. I’m working at a temporary job until I can finally break free. I’m my little brother’s temporary mother since our mom doesn’t give a crap about either of us. And I’m that temporary girl all the guys want to get with because I give it up so easily. According to the rumors, at least.

But now I’m the temporary girlfriend of Drew Callahan, college football legend and all around golden guy. He’s beautiful, sweet—and he’s hiding way more secrets than I am. He’s brought me into this fake life where everyone seems to hate me. And everyone seems to want something from him. The only thing he seems to want though is…

Me.

I don’t know what to believe anymore. All I know is, I think Drew needs me. And I want to be there for him.

Forever.

My Thoughts

I've been meaning to read this book for a long time but someone mentioned it ends with a cliffhanger.
It took almost 3 months for the second book to release and I honestly forgot this book until my friend asked me about it. lol.

Anyway, I just finished this yesterday and wow... There are so many twist in the story it pulled so many emotions on me!

Drew seems to have it all... A college football legend and the campus golden boy but deep inside he's flawed and keeping a dark secret.. a secret that he doesn't want anyone to know. Drew has to go home for Thanksgiving and needs Fable to pretend to be his fake girlfriend for a week...

Fable is a temporary mother to her little brother and works two jobs to help pay the bills. She has a reputation.. they call her a campus slut, one that is well known but she doesn't deserved. Drew offers him a deal and since she needs money, she accepted his offer...

Like souls find each other, you know. As corny as it sounds, I’m starting to believe we were brought together for a reason.

I just want to say that Fable is one of the strongest heroine I've read in awhile. Everyone thinks she's an easy girl but she doesn't care what other people thinks of her. Fable has some insecurities behind her smart ass attitude but she's honest and a fighter. :) I love it when she wanted to help Drew move on and deal with his demons.

“I want you,” he whispers in my ear, sending shivers careening down my spine.
“So bad it’s killing me, Fable.”

Drew on the other hand.. is rich, popular and the campus golden boy, but behind this was a broken man.
I'm torn between liking or hating his character... I know he grew up in a dysfunctional family and keeping a dark past, but He came to me as a very emotional and weak hero. It was quite refreshing to read a hero like this, but I was hoping that he'll overcome everything and be stronger for his happiness. (don't want to put any spoilers)

Anyway, Drew's dark secret was the reason I stayed up late last night. I wanted to know what's the big dirty secret he's been keeping and when it was revealed.. it was a OMGWTF moment for me!

This ends with a little cliffhanger and boy was I glad that I waited for the second book before reading this or else I would be totally pissed! lol

This was completely unexpected, well written and enjoyable read! I thought this was going to be a typical, rich boy meets poor heroine but I was wrong. The story was twisted, angst but romantic! Once you started reading it, you wouldn't be able to put it down. Drew and Fable are a perfect couple!
A definite must read!

Now I'm off to read the second book!
